The floating icon, for some reason named the taskbar icon, keeps popping up right over my close window buttons in Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome Classic. Is there a way to get it to remember where I place it?
Also, but somewhat unrelated, is there a way to get it to remember it's "always on top" setting? It's kinda annoying for it to fall behind other windows.
Since I've attracted the attention of the developer, maybe you can enlighten me on this.
The icon is supposed to be in the taskbar like all my other taskbar icons and not floating around, right? If so, then you have a bug. If not, why call it a taskbar icon instead of "floating icon", "icon mode", or something like that?
Sorry if I come across as rude. I'm not trying to, but I get the impression you may think so. I actually love Gauyadeque so much that it is the only music player I ever use anymore. The only issues I have with it are those mentioned here about that icon. ... Great program!
sienile: Perhaps the confusion is that they aren't placed in the system tray and are instead placed in the indicator-applet. I'm not exactly sure what they are called but there are 2 different panel applets that handle indicator icons, one of them allows icons to be moved individually and iirc the other does not, instead the whole applet can be moved. Once someone with more knowledge on this comments, you may be able to move the icon from one applet to the other.
That is, there used to be a method to either install or uninstall one of the applets, which would add/remove the indicators to the remaining applet.
Why there are two applets or why this behavior occurs, is beyond me or the devs of Guayadeque.
It also explains the panels right click menu which you can access by Alt+Right click(or Super+Alt+Right click). If you do this to the 'floating' icon you may be able to lock it.
My problem is that it's not in the taskbar at all. It's in the main desktop area. It can be moved with Alt+click, but not to the taskbar or indicator applet. I've attached a clipped screenshot. By default, whenever I open Gauyadeque it covers my close X, shot is where I move it to.
Clicking it opens Gauyadeque, right click gives Gauydeque options. Alt+click moves, Alt+right click is icon/window settings (always on top, move workspace, etc.). Super and Alt+Super have no effect. No remove option anywhere.
Well I can't be certain so it's best to wait for anonbeat or even ask this question on askubuntu where you will surely get some help, or the ubuntuforums. I'm sure I saw this problem elsewhere though I just cant find the solution again, but it's surely happened to someone else.
I tested with gnome classic in Ubuntu 12.04 and Im having the same rersult. I bet the problem is that Ubuntu dropped support for legacy trayicon support and wxWidgets havent been updated to use the new indicators library.
The best option is to use the sound menu integration.
I will not try to fix this problem as it will get fixed with QT port
Also did a test with FileZilla and happens the same. The icon is showed in the desktop intead of the panel
I've been trying to get help on ubuntuforums, but no replies. I'll check askubuntu.
I installed it though the USC repositories. It's supposed to be the most compatible version, but like I said before, this is my only issue with the program. If I have to wait for the next version for a fix, I'm fine with that.
anonbeat, when do you plan on releasing a QT port version? The sound menu is great, but it lacks some of the more advanced options that the icon has.
