Hi I had not trouble integrating into Linux Mint Katya, but Mint LMDE cant get the integration. Also, if I am playing an album, the 1st track might play, the 2nd shows as playing, but no sound is forthcoming until maybe the next track when sound comes back. These problems did not exist under my previous distro. Thanks for any suggestions, Alistair.
First of all please post the list of the gstreamer plugins packages you have. If you have installed fluendo mp3 please remove it. What version are you using ? Can you try installing the version svn from my ppa or build it yourself from svn. Instructions at the documentation
Is there a specific reason you suggest not using fluendo? I have heard good raves about their codecs but as I haven't used them very oftem I just don't know. Is there a good or bad comparison of them?
V.3.5 But I am now convinced it is the LMDE Gnome distro. I switched to Cinnamon and it worked fine with tracks sequentially fine, and integration with volume control on one user, but the other user had no volume control!
However, this might be helpful: I changed the audio source settings and GY hung. The only way to get it to work again was to delete the .Guay..... directory and restart, perhaps you dont have a try - except test in the audio source selection dialog?
As an aside I am not so happy with LMDE after using Mint Julia/Katya for a few years, which was rock stable. As mentioned, LMDE does not consistently show the tray sound icon in Cinnamon but does in Gnome and lots more anomalies.
