Ratings tags disappear after closing program or rescan
  • I have a rather extensive collection and I like to have everything rated. After a long session of rating various files I'll shut down and when I come back on or when I rescan the collection several of the files will have reset the rating to 0 stars. I make it a point to save a playlist of each star rating now to keep track of what files are getting wiped. They are seemingly completely random. Any idea what is causing this? It's not a huge deal to just re-rate them from the playlist, but when guayadeque crashes I lose the playlist updates and I'm back to square one. It's super annoying.
  • Can you tell me what files types get not tagged please ? if its an mp3 can you check please the console output while you are trying to tag that files ?

    Thanks
  • Yeah mp3s. Opened in terminal, doing a rescan now. Got a whole bunch of "TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- Invalid sample rate." messages so far. Not sure if those are linked to the files in question yet.
  • Other messages:
    "TagLib: MPEG::Properties::read() -- Page headers were invalid."
    "TagLib: ID3v2.4 no longer supports the frame type TSIZ. It will be discarded from the tag."
    "TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- First byte did not match MPEG synch."
    "TagLib: ID3v2.4 no longer supports the frame type RVAD. It will be discarded from the tag."
    "TagLib: ID3v2.4 no longer supports the frame type TDAT. It will be discarded from the tag."
    "06:13:01 PM: Warning: No image handler for type defined."

    When tagging the files that lost the ratings:
    06:14:52 PM: Writing ratings and playcount...
    06:14:52 PM: Rating: 1 => 1
    06:15:10 PM: Writing ratings and playcount...
    06:15:10 PM: Rating: 2 => 64
    06:16:06 PM: Writing ratings and playcount...
    06:16:06 PM: Rating: 3 => 128
    06:16:22 PM: Writing ratings and playcount...
    06:16:22 PM: Rating: 4 => 192
    06:16:33 PM: Writing ratings and playcount...
    06:16:33 PM: Rating: 5 => 255
  • and after that if you do a collection update you loose the ratings ?
  • Yeah several of the tracks lost their ratings. (checked against the playlists I made) I re-rated them and did another rescan. Got a lot of the same TagLib messages but the ratings seem to have stuck after the most recent rescan. Is there a way to tell which mp3s are throwing the TagLib messages or software to scan and update the tags to the proper ID3v2.4?
  • that taglib messages does nothing to do with ratings tags. Its taglib telling about old tags but not about the ratings.
    Can you send me one or two files that drops the ratings please ?
  • This happens for me too. It doesn't matter what type of file is being used for me. The next time the app is started the tags are all reset to the last tag type used. Using v0.3.5- on Ubuntu 11.04, nvidia drivers.
  • Aaaaand now I can't get it to repeat the problem... So I don't know what file would be worth sending. (sigh)
