I often use guayadeque to listen to music while I work (not on the computer) After 10 minutes Gnome Power Manager activates suspend. I can use sleep inhibitor to prevent this, but a feature/option that prevents the computer suspending while guayadeque is playing music would be awesome.
Have you ever heard of Caffeine? It allows you to control a list of applications which if detected the program will then inhibit sleep for you. I actually like caffeine because I can control inhibit for the entire system all with one app. I have used it for over 2 years now on various distros and it uses VERY little overhead, so little I never realize it's even running.
It is probably in the ubuntu/mint repos and I know it is also available for openSuSe, but let me know if you need help. http://launchpad.net/caffeine/
I just switched for caffeine. I like the possibility to list apps which prevent suspend. Ideally, however, I would want it to only prevent suspend when guayadeque is actually playing music and not if ti is running but paused/stopped...
i have been trying to get guayadeque to wk with caffeine but no joy! if i use guayadeque or /usr/bin/guayadeque i get nothing ! any ideas? I am running gnome-shell 3.7.1 with ubuntu 12.10 (quantal)
ok. i asked because i have problems in 3.6 where the screen constantly locks after a certain time regardless of what i'm doing, so it might be a 3.6 specific bug. i was curious if it affected you as well.
you could always try something else like manually installing the Caffeine extension:
You need to download the zip and change the metadata version to 3.7 then save it and extract everything in it to ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/caffeine@patapon.info
An empty cup signifies the screensaver is being inhibited
so i got guayadeque to wk with caffeine first i added /usr/share/applications/guayadeque to the "List of programs Caffeine activates for" then i played ..... found that the full coffee cup keeps your computer from going to sleep!
